1963. Romy Schneider was 25 when Henri-Georges Clouzot asked her to be the lead actress in his next project, L'Enfer. 

Daughter of German actress Magda Schneider, she was no stranger to the world of cinema, and among the twenty-five films she had already made, the three feature-length films in the Sissi series had made her a popular phenomenon and an international star.
