A musical and cinematic icon, David Bowie also distinguished himself by his unique style.
Voted the best-dressed British in history by the BBC, he has turned fashion into a means of artistic expression.
His collaboration with Japanese designer Kansar Yamamoto marked a turning point.
Together, they designed the flamboyant costumes for Ziggy tardust (1972) and Aladdin Sane (1973), which became symbols of glam rock.
From then on, Yamamoto’s sartorial style became an unmistakable signature.
