NOUS VIVRONS
This painting speeks about protection, grief, hope, and resilience.
At its heart, a woman holds a child in a protective embrace. The composition is intimate. As if we are witnessing a private moment of consolation.
The figures are carved from emotion.
The woman’s face is calm, eyes closed, her posture steady and grounding. The child presses into her, tear running down her cheek, fragile and seeking refuge. The embrace is firm but gentle.
The blues evokes sorrow, silence, grief and pain.
Handwritten text floats and dissolves into the background, partially legible, partially erased. These words are thoughts, prayers, and confessions.
This scene exists as much in memory and inner life as in reality.
At the lower edge of the canvas, the architectural forms of Jerusalem emerges.
Painting made for the 7th of October, after the Hamas attacked Israel and slaughtered more than 1,200 people during celebration day.
251 hostages.
Acrylic on canvas.
